MEDIAN Group appoints new CEO for Germany, Sebastian Bergholz
MEDIAN Group, leading pan-European provider of mental health, specialist care and rehabilitation services, today announced that Dr Marc Baenkler will step down as CEO of MEDIAN Germany, in August 2026.
The MEDIAN Group Management Team has appointed Sebastian Bergholz, currently Managing Director for the East Region at MEDIAN, as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Bergholz will be part of the MEDIAN Germany Board and the MEDIAN Group Management Team.
Dr Baenkler will serve as a member of the MEDIAN Group Advisory Board to support a smooth leadership transition.

“We are pleased to appoint Mr. Bergholz as our new CEO. His operational experience, leadership qualities and in-depth knowledge of our business model, and the rehabilitation sector more widely, means he is ideally placed to lead our next phase of growth in Germany.”

Sebastian Bergholz has held the role of Regional Managing Director for MEDIAN Germany since 2022, originally for the North East Region and now for the East Region as a whole. Prior to this, he held senior operational leadership roles across rehabilitation groups including MEDICLIN, Gräfliche Kliniken, and Lielje Gruppe. He holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Hochschule Osnabrück.
