Setting the standard
The history of the MEDIAN Group
The MEDIAN Group was first established with MEDIAN in Germany and based on the philosophy that rehabilitation and mental health services can be significantly improved if clinics join forces and combine their medical and therapeutic expertise.
In 2011, MEDIAN took over the management of the long-established RHM clinics – then comprising 1,850 beds across 26 facilities. This set the stage for MEDIAN’s strategic focus on rehabilitation, psychiatry, and sociotherapy services.
Becoming Germany's largest rehabilitation provider
Through a series of mergers with renowned clinic groups and the integration of specialised facilities, MEDIAN rapidly expanded. By December 2015, it had grown into a modern network of over 120 clinics. Its scale enabled the implementation of a consistent quality philosophy and investment in treatment quality, thanks to synergies within the business and cost savings in areas, which were not patient-focussed.
Expanding into Europe
In 2021, MEDIAN took a significant step towards internationalisation by merging with Priory, the UK’s leading private provider of mental health and adult social care services, now comprising 280 sites. In 2023 MEDIAN Group acquired Hestia Alliance – which later became Hestia Health – a high quality Spanish provider of mental health and social medical care.
