Quality and outcomes

Like no other rehabilitation group, MEDIAN Group stands for the highest medical and therapeutic quality of care.

Quality at every level

As the leading provider of rehabilitation and mental health in Germany, the UK and Spain, MEDIAN Group continues to place its primary focus on delivering the highest quality of care for the people we support. We take our responsibilities seriously and are committed to providing the best support, outcomes and experiences to as many people as possible and have established a range of quality management tools to ensure this.

MEDIAN Medical Boards

MEDIAN Group set up its Medical Boards more than ten years ago, as a way of improving the effectiveness of rehabilitation for patients long-term, including after they have been discharged. Medical Boards allow each specialist medical unit at MEDIAN Group to share knowledge and exchange experiences on a regular basis. Sitting on each Board are the senior consultants from the respective specialty who work together to provide advice on approaches to medical therapies. These doctors' committees meet several times a year to establish standardised therapy and parameters for quality of outcomes.

MEDIAN Quality Management Board

Quality managers from our sides and the central quality management team address current issues relating to quality assurance and quality improvements at all facilities. For example, best practice models are developed to meet legal standards or measures are derived from external certification audits.

MEDIAN Nursing Board

The Nursing Board defines recommendations and standards for all nursing staff at sites. The main focus is the continuous quality improvement withn the care sector. These also serve to support the nursing staff in the facilities in ensuring the latest expert standards.

MEDIAN Hygiene Board

The board brings together hygiene specialists, hospital hygiene workers, and hygiene officers from the senior medical and nursing staff. The issues on the agenda include how to raise awareness of hygiene standards among patients, visitors and employees, how to implement hygiene standards in general, and how to develop our quality indicators further.Especially in recent years, the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged and confirmed the importance of our sustainable hygiene strategy.

MEDIAN Nutrition Board

The goal of the Nutrition Board is to provide healthy, nutritious meals at all facilities in order to support and assist the rehabilitation process for patients.

Outcome measurement

The MEDIAN Group approach to continuous quality improvement ensures internal and external quality assurance, and therefore effective and targeted quality management.

Internally, we have established a highly efficient quality management system to ensure treatment results based on structured data evaluation. This enables us to monitor the entire course of treatment on a daily basis.

In Germany external quality assurance is mainly carried out by the German Pension Insurance Fund (Deutsche Remenversicherung). In the UK, external quality control is also ensured by the Care Quality Commission in England, Healthcare Improvement Scotland and the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales.
